‘Incubate for Growth’ Programme with Innovate Ballymun

Innovate Ballymun is running a 7 month long programme called ‘Incubate For Growth’ which started in mid July. The programme is sponsored by Dublin City Council and is housed in the Innovate Ballymun Social Innovation Hub located in the Dublin City Council Civic Centre in Ballymun. During this programme 10 entrepreneurs/social entrepreneurs are provided with a dedicated desk space and a unique ecosystem of resources, inspiration, and collaboration opportunities all designed to accelerate their business offering   The focus of this programme is to help participants take their business to the next level by building on the supports already provided to them by the Department of Social Welfare (DSP) via the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme and the North West Dublin Area Partnership (NWDAP) via the Start Your Own Business Course. For those who are already trading that may mean an increase in customers, for others it may mean setting themselves up to trade.   Participants receive intensive support during the programme to develop both their own skills and their business. This includes participation in workshops, mentoring and regular reviews against established goals. Using these supports, they will fully detail and validate their business proposition, identify potential customers, sales channels and funding options and grow their business offering.   The Incubation for Growth programme is based in Ballymun and is an innovative response to the problem of unemployment in the area. It provides an exceptionally high level of support to emerging start ups within the Social Innovation Hub which is the only one of its kind in the area. It builds on the supports provided by the DSP, the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) and the DNWAP and creates a pipeline of support from unemployment to self employment and from the Hub to Enterprise Centres and beyond.
