‘Youth Academy’ Programme - Empowering vulnerable young people to discover and improve their potential and better equip them for further training or employment

Starting in September, Innovate Ballymun will run a 15 week long ‘Youth Academy’ Programme for local unemployed young people who are not in employment, education or training. The programme will focus on capacity development of marginalised youth in a highly innovative way and will aim to empower them to discover and improve their potential and better equip them for further training or employment. Participants will be vulnerable 18-24 year olds and each will apply the techniques to take further steps along the road towards employment, further education or training.   The programme will support these young people in their journey towards employment in a highly engaging and creative way and will develop transferable skills such as communication, project management and design thinking. It will provide participants with an opportunity to get involved in an innovative project of their choosing that develops their business and entrepreneurial skills.   The programme will have 20 participants and we will partner with local organisations involved in youth and employment that will refer clients to us. The development of new solutions and responses to unmet needs is one of our organisation’s core aims. This will be a pilot initiative and once the prototype is developed we will replicate it on a regular basis locally. Exceptional candidates will be offered the opportunity to repeat the programmes as assistant facilitators. The Incubate for Growth Programme supports an integrated framework of provisions for the unemployed and amplifying the supports provided to them by various local agencies.
